3 Smart Ways to Save on Wedding Invitations
A lot of details go into planning a wedding. And while you don’t want to break the bank with all the details, you also don’t want your theme to come across as “cheap.” Fortunately, there’s a smart way to save costs on just about everything. We caught up with Kara Gordon from Magnificent Milestones, Chicago’s premier paperie, to get her expert opinion on how brides can save on wedding invitations without sacrificing the look they want.
1. Each ink color adds to the cost of a letterpress, foil or engraved invitation. So add the second color where it counts: the invitation! The inserts look great and cohesive as one color cards. Seriously, who needs more than this gorgeous Chicago skyline invitation anyways?
2. Consider doing RSVPs as postcards–each one of those envelopes puts a little more money back in the budget. They look just as nice and cost less to mail. *Bside Tip: Take the time to mark each return card with a number that coordinates to your guest list. There are always a few cards that will come back without a name.
3. Calligraphed invitations are all the rage, but they can take a toll on the stationery budget. Use calligraphy fonts for the same beautiful effect without the cost.
*Bside Tip: Stick to standard size invites. Square invitations and other non-standard sizes cost more to mail.
With these tips you should be able to save some money on your wedding invitations. And don’t forget, the ladies at Magnificent Milestones are full of insight when you’re ready to get started.
