Every year, the Grammy Awards are all about the red carpet fashion and the all-star performances. This year, sequins, mesh illusion detailing, and cutouts were all over the red carpet. Color was rare last night, as black was the main go-to color this year. My favorite all black look this year was Gwen Stefani’s cutout, jogger jumpsuit. She looked absolutely stunning with her hair tied back, minimal makeup and pointy stilettos.
Jessie J looked out of this world rocking a mesh-illusion dress covered in sequins and embellishments. It is important to note that her dress was the primary focus of her look. She pulled off this look with little to no accessories, a fresh face and slick ponytail, she lit up the room. Jessie J’s look reminded me of Alfred Sung’s Style D676.
Let’s please discuss Chrissy Teigan because, let’s be honest, she could wear a trash bag and be absolutely flawless. Last night, she didn’t disappoint. She wore a long, white cutout dress with a sequined clutch. This dress definitely showed off all of her curves (is she real?) and therefore, I am even more obsessed with John Legend’s song, All of Me.
Finally, I’d like to mention Taylor Swift because people may be wondering why I didn’t bring her up first. She brought it last night in her cutout, high-low, jewel- toned dress. Not only is that a mouthful to describe, it’s also hard to pull off! On top of her gorgeous teal dress, she wore turquoise earrings and fuchsia heels! I was so happy to see a pop of color on the red carpet! This was the perfect look for Taylor Swift, and she really makes every girl completely and utterly jealous. After watching this year’s Grammys, I’m completely infatuated with sequins (Just kidding- I’ve always been fixated on sequins), the mesh detailing and natural makeup.
Overall, the 2015 Grammy trends were natural makeup, embellishments, and mesh detailing. These three trends could easily be transferred to any modern bridal party. Although a lot of the looks were very simple, the 2015 Grammy’s showed amazing head-to-toe looks. There is still so much more to come with this year’s award season and I cannot wait to see all the trends ahead.
